VTC KIDS teaches our youngest actors to believe in their creative ideas, have the bravery to express them in front of others, and learn to be supportive of their peers. VTC KIDS learn basic theater techniques to communicate characters, feelings, and stories, which will increase their focus and exercise their imaginations. They will develop trust through cooperation and collaboration – learning to accept and build on each other's creative ideas in an atmosphere of DREAM: Diversity, Reciprocity, Education, Activism and Mentorship. These skills will serve them not just for the stage – but for the stages of life!
This year's show is SHREK JR! Though rehearsals will happen in-person for this process, actors will be divided into “performance pods.” Each pod will consist of 15 students or less, and they will be responsible for a specific portion of the show - based on role assignment. We will have a group of “storytellers,” “fairytale creatures,” “duloc citizens,” “knights,” and more!
For more information about rehearsals and performances, please read the parent information form, below. Tuition is $595 with payment plans available.
Rehearsals will be on Sundays beginning in October. In the past, VTC KIDS performances have been in late January/early February, however in order to ensure enough rehearsal hours (since we aren’t meeting as long on Sundays as we have in the past) the streamed performance will be in early March.
DREAM VTC is an education and performance program created to teach theater skills to middle and high school students, while focusing on significant social issues. The program takes students through a 3 month experience that mirrors a professional practice in the metropolitan area, and challenges them to reciprocate what they have learned on tours, bringing live theater to people without traditional access. DREAM VTC has been recognized by funding from the NJ State Council on the Arts.
This audition-only, tuition based program has two age divisions: Junior (10-14) and Senior (14-19). Each division rehearses and performs in an Off-Broadway or other prestigious theater before going on tour. This year's senior show is THEORY OF RELATIVITY!
Tuition is $650, with payment plans available.
