ILLUMINATING NEW VOICES
A Festival of New Works selected as part of a curated selection process called Illuminating New Voices. Our goal is to support and nurture new works that inspire audiences to think critically about existing social and cultural narratives.
We invite artists to submit work, spanning 10-15 minutes, that creatively challenges traditional ways of story-telling. If selected, new work will be showcased in our new works festival May 19-21, 2023
Eligibility: All poets, playwrights, composers, lyricists, and choreographers are welcome to submit their work. Work may be existing or created specifically for this festival.
Process: All submissions must be submitted through our google form application. Once the application is closed, all submissions will be reviewed for final consideration. All chosen applicants will be contacted and informed of the selection of their work for presentation during the weekend of May 19 - 21, 2023 at Vanguard Theater.
Submissions will require:
A three to five minute excerpt or preview of the work;
A written synopsis or script of the work;
Sheet music, if existing;
Short artist statement of the creator.
Final works may not exceed fifteen minutes in length.
Submissions may be excerpts of fuller length works.
All works should be submitted as a PDF document and/or with an accompanying MP4 if applicable. For example, if submitting a musical, a recording of the music can solely be submitted, or a combination of a sample of the script, sheet music, and recording can be provided. All work submitted must be purely original for consideration.
Deadline: March 31, 2023
